Self Reflection on Japan Earthquake & Tsunami


First and foremost, I will like to send my condolence to those who have lost friends or relatives in the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on 11 March 2011.

Over the last 4 days, I have been constantly popping by the TV, the computer and even on mobile to track the latest development on the aftermath of Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The Japan Tsunami's scenes of the rushing water engulfing everything on its path really reminds me of the Indonesia's Sumatra Tsunami in 26 Dec 2004.
2011 has just started and we have yet to cross the quarter, we already have a few earthquakes,(Christchurch, New Zealand, 22 Feb 2011, China Yunnan Earthquake, 11 March 2011) and major flood in Queensland, Australia. Many life are lost and massive destruction to property and economic suffering to many others.

This morning, I have heard the news reporting Fukushima Daiichi Plant, Reactor 2 of has exploded in the morning and Reactor 4 is on fire. The leaking nuclear radiation if not contained, will add more miserably to the million of Japanese's well being, life hood and economy already caused by the Earthquake and Tsunami.  The neighboring country like China, Russia, Korea and even Chinese Taiwan will be affected.

These events has keep me ponder what is the definition of life? In eastern cultural, we are taught to work hard and achieve the max in life. The events unfold take me to re look into life. Life is not just about earning more money, more time at work, achieve more and the worldly comfort. It just take a event like this, even a well prepared and high tech country like Japan wasn't prepare for something like this. A rock and wash and everything you accumulated through hard work and sweat just swept away.

It goes with a old saying, "You don't bring anything (worldly) when you are born and you aren't taking anything away when you leave." What that you left for this world, is your footprint, your smile, your happiness, your work for the generation to remember.

Videos channeling from the news, many may see despairs and the devastation. What i see is the resilience, the calm and the love of life from the Japanese. They are without food, water and shelter, yet they help each other, queue up orderly, polite and even help others when themselves have some little to spare. I can foresee nation will raise again no matter the scale of problems they are facing today. They see Hope.

Reflecting back at myself, i search the reasons of setting up this blog, which is to help many others to gain or lose weight to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I am seeing the urge to share more about the stories of success weight management and my experiences to more people. I also urge those who find my blog interesting please spread to others and benefiting others.

My Weight Loss Secret - Juicing

Now for my weight loss secret that helps me to slim down 20kg in a month. The Juicing Program. This program can last as little as 7 days and as long as 30 days.

The first step of Juicing is to cleanse the colon. To do that we have to step by step reducing our food intake. 1 week before the juicing start, we need to reduce the food intake from solid to fluid. I will start taking fiber drinks in the morning and night before sleep. The fiber which act like a brush will clean our colon which allows the toxic to go back from the body to expel our as waste. For Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The first 3 days will be solid food like steam tofu or raw vegetable salad without the light soya sauce or the thousand island salad cream. The next four days, the meals will turn from miso plus tofu / sea weed to just plain miso soup. And we are ready for juicing.

Depending on how long you intend to juice. The diet plan is simple. Morning, 1 glass of fiber drink, 30 minutes later, 3 Carrot, 2 Green Apples, juice them and drink. (You can add celery, tomatoes , beet roots for maximum detoxification) If you are still hungry, grab some apples to eat or raw vegetable only. Algae like crytomonodales are fantastic supplement as it replenish and detox at the same time. For lunch, dinner, the food is the same, Carrot and Green Apple juices. Diet Plans

Introduction

There are actually many diet plans out there. The tough way, a moderate approach, the natural way, the orthodox way, etc. Choosing a plan that suit you may not be an easy task as the methods are very different in many approaches.

Luckily, for me, I get to witness many successful dieters and here are some winning tips for those they work

1. PLAN

You need to plan! "If you aren't to plan, you plan to lose!" This is the number thing you have to do. You need to write down a detail plan. Breakdown from a monthly, to weekly and to a daily plan of what you need to do.Grab a paper and start drawing your plan!

2. Set CLEAR Goals

Some may ask, "What is so difficult about setting goals? After all, I just need to lose some pounds?" That is not true!

Your mind is like a machine, it only execute the command only if you have give it clear commands. I call it SMART Goals and here is the breakdown.

S - Specific, You need to specify your goal, are you going to lose weight or gain weight? Be more specific, the clearer the message, you are more likely to achieve it!
M - Measurable, Yes, you are going lose /attain weight, but how much? You need to specify the weight you need to lose/attain, said 20lbs?
A - Attractive, Yes, you need to set goals that are attractive. I only see people attracted to pleasant goals,  if ain't attractive, you will lose interest and give up!
R - Realistic, if I am 40lbs overweight, I want to lose it by tomorrow, hey that's impossible and if you can't  even convince your mind to do it, it dooms to be failure then!
T - Time Limitation, I believe all of us are given deadline for assignment before. We will only execute the order only when we know the deadline, else we will not do it.

E.g. of a SMART Goal, "I will be 65kg by 30th April 2011".


3 Work Your Plan Backward

Now you have your goals, it is time to work backward to see how much target you need to achieve each month, each week and daily.

E.g. If I weights 85Kg, and I need to reduce to 65kg by 30th April 2011. I need to reduce 10kg per month, 2.5Kg per week and 350g per day, very attainable and attractive.

4. Diet, Exercise & Contingencies

Diet

They are many way of diets, the Atkins method, the less fried food method, etc... I find this diet solution easier to follow and it is very easy to follows.

Apart from it, I also have a little secret to share. Clearing the colon will make way for your fat lose especially if you weight a lot. Cleanse your body with fiber drink once in the morning and night before you sleep for a week* (Not Recommended for those who is in pregnancy or you are expecting to have baby) and drink plenty of plain, normal temperature water. It will remove the excess toxic to jumpstart your diet plan.

I will talk more about the other of my favorite detox planing called Juicing next time.

Exercise

Yeah, they tell you that you can slim down without exercise. It may be true but your slim body will not last long. Exercise not only help you to slim down and maintain it. It also help you to keep fit from disease and also bring your thinking quicker that  help you to work more efficient.

Start your exercise right now! Depending on your fitness level and if you have any injury before, you can take upon many exercise routine.

If you can jog, jog, that is the best cardioid exercise you can have, next is work out. If not you can try cycling and swimming. If you are very obese, try brisk walk first. The whole idea is to workout for at least 40 minutes and does it every other day. Once you body start exercising, you will slim down faster!

Contingencies

The place when I live in always rains. I have a big storm out there right now. Therefore I always plan for  contingencies so i don't give excuses. We can get simple gym equipment or just simple work out exercise that can work your body.

5. Actions. More Actions...

Now you have the battle plans, the next thing is to Act Now. Find a close friend / buddy, brother, sister, etc to monitor you and encourage you. It will help to you to stay in actions.

6. Review & Modify

Daily review is necessary; you need to keep track of your progress everyday. Review if the process, food or exercise you take is effective, if the particular exercise hurts you too much, change it! Sometime you will slim down faster but some time you will be stable for days, it is alright and it is part of sliming down cycle. If you keep reviewing the progress, take actions, you will eventually reach your goal

Something to motivate you. I manage to lose 20kg in one month time from 75kg to 55kg and remember I a "yoyo" and i did it!

A Warm Welcome to Your Guide on Weight Management! The self help blog that dedicate to help man and woman to achieve and maintains healthy & quality well being through offers practical, health tips and articles on how to gain and lose weight.

I have recently stumble upon Yahoo Answer. Wow, the number of people seeking for weight loss and gain are tremendous. Oh my! I have participate in many answers and found that i have been writing over and over again, sometime too long and impractical to do so. Therefore i think. why not i blog it and many can refers to the answer and tips at the same time.

I have been a "yoyo guy" (i constantly gain, loss and gain even weight, like a yoyo) for sometime, i have tried many solutions. I lost some and gain even more. One day, one of my university course mate introduce me to a wonder product that let me shrink from 90kg to 55kg in 1 month time. From there, i gain back to a health weight of 60kg and i keep it for a long long time until back habit kick it again.

To cut short, i try some new methods, it injured me i gained weight again until i become a teddy bear and i finally say this have to STOP. After i modified and fine tune my method, i get back my ideal weight and i get back my life. From today onward, i am going to slowly put up articles, tips and links to show you how to lose and gain weight, live a quality and healthy life!
